About the speaker

Sandra Laura Chavez Velazquez

Sandra Chavez is a renewable energy engineer working in international development with a focus in energy systems. Sandra is currently a consultant at the World Bank’s Energy Management Assistance Program where she works on solar energy and energy storage, including in the Secretariat of the Energy Storage Partnership. Before joining the World Bank, Sandra worked in Mexico, Europe and the Middle East for the International Renewable Energy Agency, REN21, an engineering consulting firm and other organizations.Sandra has a M.Sc. in Renewable Energy from the University of Oldenburg in Germany, as well as certifications in power sector regulation from the Florence School of Regulation, and climate finance from Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. Sandra is also currently a Women Leaders in Energy Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center.
