Ryan is a Research Council Officer (RCO) with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). He has 19 years of experience in science and engineering R&D across academia, government and industry at the lab bench top, demonstration, and pilot scales. His experience in catalysis and electrochemistry includes hydrometallurgy, electrolysis, high pressure gasses, batteries, fuel cells, and he now applies that to assessments of energy technologies. Combined with a recent MBA he performs Technology Assessment and Evaluation, specifically R&D strategy, using decision making tools. Before joining NRC Ryan worked for Stuart Energy Systems (now Hydrogenics) in California. He obtained his BSc Chem from UVic, his MASc Chem Eng from UBC, and his MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
