Jeff St. John
Jeff St. John is senior editor of grid edge at Greentech Media, where he has worked since 2008. He covers utilities, smart grid, renewable energy, distributed energy resources, energy storage, demand-side energy management, and the intersection of technology, regulatory and economic developments influencing the global transition from a fossil fuel-dominated energy system to one centered on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and human-caused climate change. He previously worked as a business reporter at McClatchy Co. newspapers The Fresno Bee, the Tri-City Herald and the Anchorage Daily News, where he earned awards for his reporting on business, labor, energy and environmental issues. He earned his master’s degree from the U.C. Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism in 2001, and his bachelor’s degree in English from U.C. Berkeley in 2001. He lives in Oakland, Calif. with his wife Tara Donoghue and his dog Lily, and enjoys hiking, gardening, and playing guitar with his nieces.
