Alejandro Moreno is Director of the Water Power Technologies Office in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). In this role, he manages efforts to develop and commercialize innovative technologies and market solutions for clean, domestic power generation from hydropower and marine energy resources across the United States. Alejandro started the first-ever water power research program at DOE in 2008. He also managed the first nationwide assessments of the potential for new hydropower in the U.S. He also served previously in the energy groups of the World Bank and International Finance Corporation. He holds a bachelor’s from Stanford and master’s in economics and energy policy from Johns Hopkins.
