#ESACon20 FAQs

The health and safety of our members, partners, and employees are among our highest priorities. Due to ongoing concerns regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have shifted The ESA Energy Storage Annual Conference & Expo (#ESACon20) to a 100% virtual conference. We are excited to create this new virtual conference for our attendees and to convene our members and industry in a safe and convenient manner, while still offering the top value, education, and business opportunities you’ve come to expect from The ESA Energy Storage Annual Conference & Expo. We look forward to bringing us all together online in August.

ESA is excited to create a virtual conference with the same top-caliber educational programming and an Expo Hall experience that offers the highest value education and business opportunities that you’ve come to expect from The ESA Energy Storage Annual Conference & Expo.

This year’s virtual conference will take place across four days (August 24-27, 2020) with interactive content from 11 AM to 5 PM (EDT)/8 AM to 2 PM (PDT) daily.

Attendees can attend dozens of educational sessions, Learning Labs, and keynote presentations from the comfort of their home or office.  Attendees will also be able to meet privately with exhibitors or network with other attendees through our new expanded expo hall experience in the eMarketplace. All #ESACon20 content will be available on-demand for registered attendees through Dec 31, 2020.

Also this year, we have expanded the value of a single registration by incorporating the third of ESA’s keystone events, the ESA Storage Exchange – Powered by EPRI. With a single registration, the Exchange will provide #ESACon20 attendees access to interactive sessions that dive deeply into the practical matters of deploying energy storage.

We will also be featuring ESACon TV, a valuable resource for quick-hit content to keep attendees engaged and current on the industry with:

    • Industry and purchaser CEO interviews;
    • Post-session analysis with industry thought leaders;
    • Market segment discussions; and more.

We will announce more details over the next few weeks on how to access all of the new features of #ESACon20.

There will be educational and networking content throughout the week for everyone in the energy storage industry including marketing, sales, policy, and technical staff. Buyers and financers will also benefit from the content, gaining a deeper understanding of the energy storage market and its growth trajectory.

More than 2,000 people attend The ESA Energy Storage Annual Conference & Expo and hundreds attend The ESA Storage Exchange– Powered by EPRI. We anticipate thousands of attendees for this year’s virtual conference, as our pricing structure is designed to allow even more staff members to attend from the comfort of their home or office.

Registration is now open for #ESACon20 and the ESA Storage Exchange – Powered by EPRI. One new highlight of the virtual conference is the introduction of an Enterprise Pass. ESA desires community involvement across the entire industry. This is a cost-effective approach for companies to gain access to the conferences for all its team members.

Enterprise and Team pass registration includes access to all #ESACon20 keynotes, 16 educational sessions, all ESACon TV content, and the eMarketplace. New this year, ESA has incorporated its flagship technical gathering, The ESA Storage Exchange – Powered by EPRI into the program. All registrants will also receive unlimited access to on-demand content through December 2020.

#ESACon20 will also feature four (4) Learning Labs, which are 90-minute intensive educational sessions, available at an additional cost.

You can visit the registration page and choose your pass type. For Enterprise and Team passes, companies should designate one person to serve as the main contact to provide the pass code to and manage the pass allocations to other team members. The code can be shared with team members to self-register or an individual can register colleagues as a group.

ESA will transfer over your existing registration to the virtual conference. Staff will be reaching out to you regarding the pass options that would best suit you and your entire company.

If for some reason you cannot join our virtual conference, contact events@energystorage.org by June 30, 2020 to explore a transfer, refund or donation options. Refund requests made after that will be subject to the revised cancellation policy.

Your company lead should notify your staff if a pass has been purchased.  If you do not know, please contact events@energystorage.org to see if your company has an Enterprise or Team pass, or to find out more about which pass is best for your company. Once a pass is purchased, each company will receive a code for pass allocation based on Enterprise or Team Pass benefits.

Your company lead will manage registration of staff and pass allocation. You will receive a code from your company lead to register yourself, or your company lead will be able to manually register you to attend.

#ESACon20 remains the premier educational event of the year on energy storage, and we strive each year to present the timeliest issues by the top experts. Due to new market conditions and topics, we are currently reviewing session descriptions, topic, and format, and we will soon reach out to update speakers on the changes. We also understand your schedule and availability may have changed. In the coming weeks, ESA will update session speakers and moderators with education and support tools to help them create the most dynamic and prepared virtual session possible, even from the comfort of a home office. If you have an urgent question, please contact Lexie Briggs at l.briggs@energystorage.org.

ESA’s virtual conference is much more than a webinar. It is highly interactive for the audience, with actively-moderated sessions, real-time dialogue, chat forums, Q&A, and graphics or visuals. Additionally, the conference will provide the ultimate in convenience by allowing you an On-Demand option to engage with the content at a time that is most convenient for you.

#ESACon20 will host various forms of networking and discussion groups, including breakout session chats, small-group video “conference” rooms on specific topics, scheduled one-on-one chats, and other moderated approaches. ESA will provide more details on the show format in the coming weeks.

This year’s Storage Exchange and its unmatched technical insights on the practical elements of deploying storage will be held during the #ESACon20 virtual conference. The ESA Storage Exchange will feature everything that makes the event unique, with fast-paced poster presentations and discussions with technical experts.  For three days of the conference, a different Storage Exchange topic and presentations will be featured. Presenters will submit both a presentation overview and short introductory video, followed by interactive exchanges by participants in a dedicated chat room.  The call for posters will be opening shortly with more details to follow.  More information on The Exchange is available here.

The easiest way to stay up-to-date is to join ESA—the national voice of the entire storage value chain—to get the latest developments. Just in the first five months of 2020, ESA has hosted seven educational webinars attracting more than 1,500 unique participants; issued 30 newsletters, blogs and member alerts, as well as numerous white papers and policy summaries. We have hosted three Member Town Halls on issues surrounding taxes, tariffs, Stimulus packages and Executive Orders. For more information about membership, please contact Brenda Lovell at join@energystorage.org.

With gratitude for our great partners in the City of Pittsburgh including Visit Pittsburgh, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, The Westin Pittsburgh, and the Omni William Penn Hotel, ESA is pleased to be returning to Pittsburgh for #ESACon22 during the week of April 25-29, 2022.  We are excited to be looking forward to all that the Steel City has to offer – so mark your calendars!
